Announces $US5m deal with large US healthcare provider
ARANZ Medical Limited, a leading developer of 3D scanning technologies, today announced the launch of FastSCAN II, a second generation portable 3D scanning system.
The company also announced a $US5 million agreement to supply FastSCAN II privately labelled to a large US healthcare provider.
FastSCAN II quickly and accurately creates real-time 3D images with the simple sweep of a wand.
ARANZ Medical CEO Dr Bruce Davey says, “There has been considerable market interest in this second-generation scanner. Signing a multi-million dollar deal with a leading US healthcare provider for our new technology affirms our reputation for reliable, highly portable scanning solutions.”
Dr Davey adds, “The 3D scanning market is growing rapidly, driven by the availability of portable scanners of which FastSCAN is at the forefront.”
FastSCAN II is a 3D scanning system primarily used to support the custom fitting of prosthetics and orthoses (O&P). Applications include cranial remolding orthoses for babies, and the fitting of prosthetic limbs for amputees. According to the Amputee Coalition, there are approximately 185,000 amputations per year in the US alone, almost half due to diabetes.
Dr Davey says, “Our technology helps to transform the lives of those with disabilities and physical challenges by supporting the development of aids to their personal independence.”
ARANZ Medical’s FastSCAN technology has also been used to assist Paralympians, including Adam Hall and Corey Peters. “Our 3D scanning helps in the development of models, which are used to help in the design of new skiing supports,” says Dr Davey.
FastSCAN II can scan a wide range of non-metallic objects, including complex organic shapes which would normally be very difficult to scan. It can be applied to many fields, including the creation of digital models for the film industry, industrial and scientific research, wig customization, archaeology and artefact preservation, rapid prototyping, industrial design, and veterinary orthotics and prosthetics.
According to US based market research firm Radiant Insights Inc, the laser scanner segment of the 3D scanner market is estimated to reach $US3 billion by 2020, growing at a CAGR of 12.9%.
ARANZ Medical’s other innovations include Silhouette, an FDA-approved advanced wound imaging and assessment system supporting better wound management and increased productivity.
The company was recently named a global winner of a United Nations-sponsored World Summit Award recognising innovations that benefit the development of communities.
ARANZ Medical has a customer base spanning the United States, United Kingdom, Australia, Canada, Europe, Asia, and New Zealand.
